The First Step to Independence
For many new arrivals, learning English is more than a skill - it's a lifeline. It means understanding the doctor, speaking with teachers, applying for work, and making friends.
Integration Thru Language (ITL) gives people the tools they need to feel confident, connected, and empowered to build new lives in the UK.
Key Outcomes
In the last year, ITL has:
Welcomed 6 new volunteers, bringing our total to 38 language supporters
Helped 34 out of 37 learners pass their UK Driving Theory test, even at pre-entry English level
Supported 3 out of 5 learners through the Life in the UK test, celebrating their commitment to learning
Relocated premises with no disruption to classes or student progress
These results reflect determination from learners and a deep commitment from our volunteer team.
What We Do
ITL offers flexible, learner-friendly English support that fits around real life and individual goals. Our services include:
Face-to-face English classes in Colchester
WhatsApp-based learning groups for on-the-go support
Activity-based workshops that combine language learning with practical skills like sewing, cooking, or DIY
Specialist language sessions for NHS access, housing, and everyday scenarios
Driving Theory support, including vocabulary help and test preparation
Full access to Flash Academy, a 24/7 language app with translation and recognition tools in multiple languages
Whether it's a first word or a full conversation, we walk alongside learners as they build confidence in every area of life.
