Women’s Only Sewing & Learning English Club

The sewing classes have now been running for a year.  We have welcomed many enthusiastic ladies to our Monday and Friday classes.  Whether it is from a desire to brush up their rusty skills, to overcoming a fear of the sewing machine.  Without exception all the ladies have made great progress.  Working at their own pace and to the level they have chosen, together we have made some fantastic items.  

Every new sewer starts off making a patchwork tote bag.  This refreshes past, or teaches new, basic skills.  The ladies have then gone on to gain the confidence to tackle their own projects, repairs or alterations, from taking up trousers and dresses that are too long, to making their own clothes and soft furnishing from a pattern. 

Class numbers are limited to 6, allowing each sewer to have their own machine.  But, sewing machine owners are welcome to bring their own machine, especially if they are struggling to master it.  Classes restart January 2026, Mondays and Fridays – 12:30 to 14:30.
